Break Your Bad Habits
Bad habits break your life and prevent you from accomplishing your goals. They put your health in danger – both physically and mentally, resulting in a waste of your precious time and energy.
Smoking, drugs, overeating all of these are bad habits. Neither do they bring in any good, nor there any way to do any of these in a “healthy” way.
Bad habits are mainly caused by boredom and stress, so you have to focus on that. Sometimes the boredom or stress surfaces deeper issues. These issues can be hard to think upon, but if you’re serious about making changes in your life then you have to be honest with yourself.
To break a bad habit, you have to replace it with a good one. For example, opening your Facebook account in the middle of your work might make you feel connected. At the same time looking at all of those posts and notifications destroys your productivity, divides your attention, and overwhelms you with stress. But, it prevents you from feeling like you’re “missing out” and so you do it again.
Instead, you need to replace a bad habit with a new habit that provides a close benefit.
In other words, bad habits tackle specific needs in your life. And because of that, it’s better to switch your bad habits with a healthier, better behavior that gets that same need. Don’t expect yourself to simply give up bad habits without them getting replaced, it would be anything but easy.
